David Battersby - Piano Venue: St Thomas's Church, Milnthorpe, LA7 7QJ Written for the Millennium celebrations by Jenkins, a Welsh composer, and dedicated to the victims of the Kosovo crisis, The Armed Man is one of Jenkins’ most popular works, regularly performed by professional and amateur musicians worldwide ever since its premiere nearly two decades ago. Join us for a chance to learn and sing this dramatic work
Singers of all ages and abilities who can follow a score are welcome
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parent or guardian who must remain present to act as chaperone at all times
Booking fee includes score hire. We will be using the Boosey and Hawkes edition
Please note that we will be be singing the Choral Suite which is a reduced version and contains the following movements:
Kyrie
Sanctus
Benedictus
Agnus Dei
Hymn Before Action
If you are bringing your own score you can use either the full score or Choral Suite score as the movements are identical.

Facilities
The workshop and performance will be held in the body of St Thomas' Church.
We will be using the pews so a cushion might be prudent!
There is heating in the church.
There is no dress code; be comfortable and warm.
Refreshments will be served in the church centre at the entrance of the church.
There will be a complimentary hot drink on arrival. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available during morning break and lunch Squash and water will be available all day and during the final break.
A buffet lunch is available for £6; please book in advance.
There are toilets in the church.
There are several eateries in Milnthorpe including the butchers with his competition-winning pies. We have a chip shop, restaurant and two takeaway snack bars. You can, of course, bring your own lunch.
Travel and Parking
There are two public car parks in Milnthorpe. Please be aware that the free parking on The Square directly in front of the church is subject to a 2 hour limit and requires a disc showing what time you arrived. These are available from all of the retailers in Milnthorpe.
The 555 bus stops directly outside the church.
If you have mobility problems and would like to reserve a parking space please send a message.
